Postdoctoral Fellowship Program
In an effort to continuously develop the next generation of bold innovators, the Eshelman Institute for Innovation offers two postdoctoral fellowship positions.
Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fellowship
A two-year postdoctoral training program designed to gain experience with the following:
- Promoting entrepreneurship
- Identifying, protecting, and commercializing intellectual property
- Educating and training faculty, students, and postdoctoral fellows in entrepreneurship and the commercialization of IP
- Activities supporting the Eshelman Institute for Innovation granting and technology outreach process
- Supporting the development and commercialization of IP
- Assisting companies with securing space at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, UNC-Chapel Hill, and beyond
- Managing the Eshelman Institute for Innovation MicroIncubator, which included the development and execution of facility and equipment use agreements
- Collaborating with the Office of Technology Commercialization at UNC Chapel-Hill and other entities on and off campus that are involved in entrepreneurial development, IP, and commercialization
Innovation and Translation Fellowship
A two-year postdoctoral training program designed to gain experience with the following:
- Supporting the education of faculty, staff and students focused on the process of innovative idea generation to launch of a product with commercialization and/or some other high impact potential
- Scouting and supporting entrepreneurial technologies and intrapreneurial activities within the School
- Reviewing and optimizing grant submission, review and progress reporting criteria
- Conducting diligence around ongoing programmatic grants including assessing scientific progress against award milestones, tracking budget spend, and developing sustainability plans
- Supporting the development of commercialization plans for new and ongoing technology development
- Refining business plans and operational launch plans for newly funded programmatic grants
- Reporting impact of grants
- Supporting outreach and branding of the Institute
- Other duties as assigned
