Our Process
The Eshelman Institute seeks to fund translational research related to therapeutics focused on oncology, infectious disease, and neuroscience (including rare diseases). However, the Institute welcomes ideas for devices and diagnostics, and other therapeutic areas and services.
To apply for therapeutic grant funding, all applicants are required to submit a pre-proposal. Select applicants will be invited to submit full proposals. Full proposals will be reviewed by the Institute with the assistance of a scientific and commercial advisory panel. Selected full proposals will be reviewed by the Eshelman Institute Industry Advisory Board and evaluated on Pitch Day. Following Pitch Day, final funding decisions are made by the Eshelman Institute. Once funded, projects will work closely with our scientific and project management team to ensure that your project is progressing along as expected.
Our annual application process begins in November with funding being issued in July the following year. Information regarding our grant guidelines and our latest grant cycle can be found here on our website.
The Eshelman Institute recognizes that bold, impactful, and disruptive ideas can arise at any time, thus, we encourage faculty and staff to submit these opportunistic proposals to the Institute for consideration through our Opportunistic Proposal process.
